What is a contractor’s license bond?
Before a contractor’s license can be issued or renewed a contractor must file with the contractor’s state license board a $10,000. The bond in California is in the amount of $10,000.
How can policy changes be made?
Most changes to policies should be made via fax or e-mail. Some change can be made over the phone, such as mailing address and phone numbers.

How long does it take to get a quote?
It can take anywhere from 15 minutes up to 3 weeks to get a quote, depending on the risk. For example, business owner policies typically get quoted within one hour, but Worker’s Compensation quotes through the state fund typically take 2 to 3 weeks to quote.

What is premium financing?
In most cases insurance companies require their premiums to be paid in full.  If the full payment cannot be made, then the premium gets financed.

What is a “surplus lines” insurance?
Some companies are not licensed to sell their insurance products in California. Therefore, they are refereed to as “surplus lines” companies. Often times it is necessary to use “surplus lines” companies because California companies do not have a market for that particular risk. For example, a building contractor may not qualify for a program offered by an admitted company. The alternative would be to use a “surplus lines” company. 

What is an additional insured?
If an entity has insurable interest in your property or your service then they will be listed as an additional insured on your policy. For example, your mortgage company has an insurable interest in your home. It will be listed as an additional insured on your policy in order to be covered in the event of a claim.

What is a declaration page?
This is a section of the insurance policy that shows who is insured, what risks are covered, when and where the coverage is affective and how much coverage applies.

Does every insurance policy have a deductible?
There is almost always a policy deductible. Generally, the deductible is for $1,000. There are policies that do not have a deductible, such as most Worker’s Compensation policies.

Who needs flood insurance?
Does who live in a flood zone should definitely consider purchasing a flood insurance policy. To find out whether or not you live in a flood zone you may contact FEMA at (800) 358-9616.  

How do I order a Certificate of Insurance?
You can call our office, fax or e-mail your request. It typically takes about one hour for us to fax or e-mail you back the certificate.

Does Lark Financial and Insurance accept credit card payments?
Yes, we accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express.

Can my policy be cancelled if I own a dog?
Most insurance companies, do not insure homes where they find a ferocious dog on
premises. This includes Rotweilers, Boxers and Pitbulls. Ferocious dogs have a
history of attacking humans. This is potentially a high risk for insurance companies.
Therefore, they may choose to cancel the policy unless the dog is removed from
